Moon Child Eats Has Brunch at Drip Cafe Hockessin

Drip Cafe Hockessin

Sunday mornings for me usually consist of church, family and unfortunately work sometimes. This particular Sunday my church was out of town. I took this opportunity to check out a brunch spot that I had been told about months ago by a good girlfriend of mine. The place I chose to visit was Drip Cafe Hockessin. There are two locations one in Newark and one in Hockessin but I chose to dine at the one located in Hockessin.

Drip Cafe Hockessin First Impression

Drip Cafe is located in Hockessin on Lantana Dr in the shopping center. This is such a cute cafe that gives me a small bakery feeling when I first walked in the door. The delicious smell of coffee wafting through the air is very pleasant! After entering I only wait about a minute before being greeted. Being offered a table with a short wait or an immediate bar seat I opt for the bar seat. I am immediately welcomed by my server. After being entranced by the smell of coffee how do I not start my meal with a cup?!? I order a cup of the house coffee.

Drip Cafe Hockessin Menu

The menu is interesting. I say this because it’s pinned into folders as opposed to your regular menu look. It’s different and that makes it memorable. There’s about five different coffee options including they’re house option. I wish I would have known about all these options before just taking a cup of the house but oh well maybe next time. And there will be a next time!!! They serve breakfast and lunch all day. Breakfast is my favorite meal anytime of day so this makes me happy!

The menu has a nice array of items from jambalaya to grilled cheese to pancakes to fried green tomatoes. I was told the menu is seasonal so my guess is it may be changing soon. I’m not sure if they have a few staple items that are on the menu all year round. I also found out after talking to my server that they do make some of the items on the menu in house.

Moon Child Eats Orders

After looking over the menu one item stands out to me and entices every sense on my palette. This item was the Caramel Apple Pancakes. Two giant bacon-studded pancakes, topped with roasted apples, smoked bacon and house-made salted caramel. I know you can’t help but drool while reading that description! I place my order and after a short wait, in spite of the business of the cafe, my food arrives.

Oh my gosh they weren’t kidding!!! These pancakes were huge!!! Make sure you check out the picture here. Totally drool worthy! It looked even better than it sounded. This may sound weird, but when I’m eating I try everything separately, then eat it all together. I started with the salted caramel sauce. Let me just tell you it was orgasmic! I love the sweet salty slightly bitter combination. You can definitely tell it’s house-made. I then dug into the pancakes which despite their size were light and fluffy. These pancakes were so big that I almost couldn’t finish them but I was up for the challenge! I even ordered some extra salted caramel sauce to go on them. The mildly sweet roasted apples and salty bacon were a delightful combination.

Drip Cafe Hockessin Overall Experience

I was very pleased with the atmosphere of Drip Cafe. There was some general chatter but nothing too disturbing. My server, Ashlee, was very nice and attentive. Even the guy that delivered my food served me with a big smile. The staff seemed pretty happy about their jobs and that gives off good vibes to the customers. Without question I will be visiting Drip Cafe in Hockessin again. Unquestionably, Moon Child Eats would suggest this spot to anyone looking for a good brunch spot or even just a place to grab a quick bite.
